ARIS tabs Panagiotis Vassilopoulos

ARIS BSA announces the acquisition of Panagiotis Vassilopoulos. The 33-year-old forward signed a one year contract with our team

Panagiotis Vassilopoulos (2.05m) was born on 8 February 1984. He started his career in Iphitos Pyrgos and then moved to Herakles Pyrgos.

From 2001 to 2005 he played for PAOK and in the summer of 2005 he got transferred to Olympiacos, where he stayed until 2012. In 2013 he agreed with the Spanish Valladolid. Overtaking an injury, in 2014 he played for a while at Hermes Piraeus and in the summer of that same year he returned to the Basket League, with Kifissia. In the 2015-16 season he played in Koroivos Amaliadas and last season (2016-17) in Kolossos H Hotels, where he averaged 8.3 points, 5.8 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.0 steal per game.

Titles and medals

In his rich career, Panagiotis Vassilopoulos won several titles, medals and distinctions. He won one Greek Championship (2012), one Euroleague (2012) and two Greek Cups (2010, 2011), all with Olympiacos.

With the National Teams, his peak was the Eurobasket 2005 Gold Medal and the next year's Silver Medal, at the Mundobasket. He has a silver medal at the Young Men's Mundobasket in 2005, and two bronze medals with the U18 National Team, at the Eurobasket 2002 and the Mundobasket 2003.

Panagiotis Vassilopoulos named to All Basket League's First Team in 2007 and participated in five consecutive All Star Games, from 2005 to 2009.
