Sharon Drucker’s target, is the creation of a team full of good Greek players, which will bring Aris’ basketball club back to its proper position both in Greece and Europe. At the official presentation at the assembly room of Alexandrion Melathron, the Israeli coach did not hide his great pleasure of being part of a team such Aris with a huge history and tradition.
The Israeli coach was introduced by the president of ARIS BSA 2003, Yannis Damianidis, who said: “Today begins the season for our team. We all know our new coach. He is a man whom we know of course, believe in character and knowledge and remains to be seen what would have, since one self to the other. With all our support , both the Administration and members of Sarisa, we are willing to help him to organize the team in the way thinks it’s better for the team, because the coach is the leading exponent of the philosophy of the Administration”.
The 43 years old coach in his first statement said: “I am very happy to be here. During the last two weeks we have discussed with Aris to come to the team and this idea made me very excited. I respect Aris because I know that is a team with tradition and history. They have passed from here very good coaches and players and it is a great honor for me to be member of this team. Above Sharon Drucker state: “I am very lucky because I had collaboration with very traditional teams during my career. This is one of the reasons why I decided to sign in Aris”.
"I will try to build the team in cooperation with the administration's people. That's the reason why I am here today. We must find ways to build a new team. According to my point of view we should create a group-based on Greek players and use them in the best way possible. Secondly, we need to find good foreign players who will accompany the team in order to create a good chemistry with players that would fit on Aris and that would deserve to be in this team ", said the new coach concerning the transfer plan of the team.
Sharon Drucker continued: "We all know that the team will participate in the Greek league, in the Cup, and in the qualifying round of Eurocup. These are not easy games, but I expect from the players to give a hundred percent of their capacity. This effort is expected to be visible to Aris's fans. The most recent example is this of Partizan during the final four of Euroleague. Even though Partizan was excluded, we all remembered the effort that this team made. The main characteristics in which my teams are always based on, are: effort, dynamics and teamwork. These are the elements that I want to have in my team. From today we start our effort having a common target, to bring the team in a high level to all the organizations".
The Israeli coach pointed out the following: "Before my arrival to Aris, I asked about Aris' s team both David Blatt, with whom I am on really friendly terms, and other coaches and players who worked for Aris during past years. All of them declared only good things about Aris's Football club and its organization".
Regarding the good relations between Aris and Maccabi, Mr. Druker said: "Always the relations between these two teams were perfect and this will be continued in the future. I would like to thank Maccabi's Tel Aviv people because they encouraged me to come to Aris. It is very important to me the fact that when I signed my contract, they issued a notice wishing me good luck".
