Aris faced little resistance and won easily the last team of the table, G.S. Olympia Larissas, by 81-55 (half-time score 42-29) for Match Day 23, but this game will very soon be forgotten by everybody. The “yellows” just did what they had to do and they moved forward on their attempt of finishing in the “top 6” of the regular season, a thing which doesn’t only depend on them.
David Blatt’s players made a poor start and the visitors led by 5 (6-11, with 5:35 to go in the 1st quarter), but a couple of minutes later Aris took the lead again and showed that it wouldn’t take them a lot of effort to win.
This was obvious in the 2nd period, when they ran a 7-0 in the beginning and made it 32-22. Later on, the score difference got bigger and just before half-time it reached 16 points (42-26, thanks to a basket scored by Betts).
The game lacked rhythm and concentration on both sides in the 3rd period. The Larissa team got as close as 8 points, but did nothing more than that. In fact, the last 15 minutes were too easy for Aris players, who tried to overcome the recent disappointing results by winning by no less than 26 points.
