Aris might be plagued by injuries, but winning A.E.K. will be imperative either way, in the upcoming game (Saturday 20/03, 17:00) of the Hellenic Championships. David Blatt spoke about the things his team must have on court, as well as about A.E.K.’s virtues.
“From now on, every game will be more difficult than the previous one, not only because of the importance they will have, but also from a physical standpoint. A.E.K. is coming from a huge victory against Panellinios, which has given them a lot of confidence. It’s a team which has got a good mix of inside and outside game. They use target players, who are good at what they do. We need to win and we must be at our best to get it”, the American-Israeli coach stated and he added: “When there are quality players missing, it obviously has an effect. However, it doesn’t really matter who are playing, but how the team is playing. I think we didn’t do badly in Peristeri, we just couldn’t get the ball into the basket. This time we must try harder. We play at home and we must be confident and determined”.
Wrapping it up, mr. Blatt quoted that his team is absolutely focused on tomorrow’s game and that any thoughts about the game against Valencia BC should wait: “As I always tell the players, every game leads to the next one. Today’s work is what leads us to tomorrow’s situation. So, if we play well against A.E.K., we will gain confidence for the game against Valencia. We will start thinking about that game from Saturday evening. After all, we will have an extra day to prepare, given the fact that this game will be played on Wednesday instead of Tuesday”.
