Nothing is lost for Aris, despite the defeat to Le Mans, David Blatt said at the Press Conference, just after the game. Quotes of the coaches:
David Blatt (Aris coach): “It was a good victory for Le Mans. We had great support of our fans and it was difficult for them to win here. Physically we did our best to win, but mentally we had letdowns and that’s what cost us the game. Le Mans scored some very difficult corner shots in the last seconds. In a game which is that close, such points hurt us. It’s a tough loss for us, but we’re looking ahead. On Sunday night we had a very difficult road game against Olympiacos and maybe the fact that we lacked another day of preparation turned out problematic for us. Maybe that’s why we missed a few things mentally. Obviously we’re not in a good position in the group, but I definitely believe that we can qualify to the next round. The group is not over for us”.
John David Jackson (Le Mans head coach): “I was very confident once we gained our composure in the 3rd quarter. Aris was very aggressive in the start of the second half. It’s a team which has got the identity of David Blatt and has changed significantly, comparing tonight’s game with the ones I saw on the video. It’s a team which has grown tougher to lose and I’m already nervous about the following game against Aris, in our home court. We don’t have the luxury to have the depth, the rotations and the big muscled players that Aris has got, but we did well. We prevailed in the rebounds, we had good scoring percentage and reasonable amount of turnovers. Me and coach Blatt both love defense and teams with strong character”.
