The ending of the current season isn’t predetermined for Aris, David Blatt said after his team’s 81-55 victory over G.S. Olympia Larissas. The Press Conference:
David Blatt (Aris coach): “I agree with Nikos Chatzivrettas that we must become a better team, now that we have the opportunity to focus on training. What I don’t like is the feeling that everything has been predetermined for us. I disagree with that, because I think that there is plenty of time and there are plenty of games for us in the regular season and in the playoffs, too. The Greek League is tough and unpredictable and you know this well. Anything can happen and we must be prepared for the best”.
Nikos Chatzivrettas (Aris player): “It was a strange game for us, because it was the first for us after our loss in Valencia. We’re in a difficult position, which no one of us would wish. The only thing to do and what we will do, indeed, is to stay together. Since when coach Blatt came, this is the first opportunity for us to work on training, in order to become a true team for the last three games of the regular season and for the playoffs. Every day is a new one and we try for the best”.
Thrasyvoulos Liagas (G.S. Olympia Larissas coach): “It’s hard for us to get motivated before each game. All week we had been working on a slow pace game plan, because Aris is a Euroleague - level team and we didn’t want them to run on the court. Up till some point we achieved this, but then we lost concentration and inevitably the score different got wide”.
Giannis Papachristos (G.S. Olympia Larissas player): “Congratulations to Aris for their victory. We have already been relegated, but we will keep on fighting until the end of the season. At some points we play well, but at some other not. We try to get some pleasure out of it and that’s all”.
