Just two days before 2009 is over and 2010 arrives, the players of Aris showed once again their will to help the ones who really need it. A delegation, consisted of seven players (Nikos Barlos, Andrew Betts, Keydren Clark, Jeremy Richardson, Aaron Miles, Christos Papanikolaou, Gaios Skordilis), visited the Departmentof Paedo-Oncology at the AHEPA hospital and gave lots of toys to the children which are hospitalized there. Along with the presents, the Aris players also offered their best wishes for a quick recovery, so that the New Year 2010 should be full of health and joy for each of the children.
Nikos Barlos spoke on behalf of the “yellows” and stated that “The real character of a man is shown in situations like this, when you stand by people in difficulties and try to make their life better, even for a brief moment. Making these kids smile is a big deal. Aris has shown again and again that humanity comes first, so I hope that we will be taking such initiatives throughout the whole season and not just in Christmas days”.
The 30-year-old forward also spoke about next Saturday’s (02/01) away match against G.S. Olympia Larissas: “So far we have had ups and downs. Let’s hope that from now on there will be no more injuries and that we will be able to make things right”.
Finally, when asked to make a wish ahead of the New Year, Barlos said: “The way our fans supported us on the game against Kolossos Rodou was breathtaking. We must appreciatethis andplay according to our fans’ demands and according to our real potential. The combination of having such supporters and having a team with talent and experience, should make 2010 be a very good year for Aris”.
